URGENT UPDATE

(posted January 19, 2010)

HAITI RELIEF (February 14-May 31, 2010)

As you have been following the catastrophe and subsequent mayhem in Haiti, we have been handed an opportunity to be a blessing and relief to folk in need of physical help and in greater need of the gospel.  Wings As Eagles is currently planning on teaming up with Operation Renewed Hope - ORH (www.OperationRenewedHope.org) to supply and service fundamental missionaries on the ground in Haiti.  Please see the attached email release from ORH to learn more about the forming efforts to “. . . do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10  My family has been reading in Matthew for our family devotions about Jesus’ healing and efforts to reach the hearts of people through meeting the physical needs that burdened them.  Christ’s message was of repentance, and his inroad to their hearts was through the outward show of his compassion.  May God use our compassion to reach many with the truth of salvation through Christ! An urgent need has just arisen. Brother Dave Spangler has been an integral part in our Flight Camp each year and has already been flying relief supplies into Haiti and transporting relief workers with his Piper Aztec.  Brother Spangler had a engine failure on takeoff from his home airport and immediately returned and landed without incident, but this has now removed one aircraft from available service.  A replacement engine will cost from $25,000 to $30,000.  He is in the process of getting that engine replaced ASAP.

You have an opportunity to help Brother Spangler with his engine replacement and help Wings As Eagles at the same time.  The Cessna 172 aircraft that Wings uses for Flight Camp and other flying throughout the year is being purchased from Brother Spangler on mutual agreement that we will pay what we can as we have funds available.  We understand Brother Spangler’s predicament and want desperately to help him replace his engine as we just went through the same situation, though without engine failure.  Would you help both Wings As Eagles and Brother Spangler by giving a gift to Wings that is designated for the Cessna 172 purchase/Spangler’s engine? This would help us pay down what we owe Brother Spangler and at the same time give him resources to replace his engine.  The is a real two-for-one deal!  We do not usually cry for help, but on behalf of a dear brother, we emphasize that this need is urgent.  God is the supplier, and He uses His people as channels of blessing.  Thank you in advance for your generosity in giving for the sake of the gospel!

The future holds many opportunities to reach out with the gospel and move forward on Wings As Eagles.  Thank you for being an essential part of our ministry.  God bless you!

Your generous gift can be sent to:

Terry's Testimony

When I was growing up, my Mother took me to church on a regular basis. I was saved at a Bible Camp when I was 8 years old. Midway through the week of camp, an invitation was given for those who wanted to accept Jesus as their Saviour. A friend of mine and I made a "deal" that if one of us went forward then the other would also go. I did not actually receive Jesus then. It was just a joke to me, and I knew it. But at the last service of camp on Friday night, I realized that I was not going to Heaven when I died. Another invitation was given that night. I wanted to be saved, but as I tried to stand up to go forward, it seemed as though literal chains were holding me back. When I finally decided to accept the Lord in my seat, I stood up and remember feeling like a load had been taken off me. It seemed as though I ran to the front to pray with a worker, even though I am sure that I walked! I do not remember what the preacher's message was about, but I do know that Christ came into my heart that night, and I have been saved ever since, never to lose eternal life. The first verse that I learned after I accepted the Lord was Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." And praise the Lord, my Father was saved the next year!

I attended a Christian school from Grades 8-12, during which time I felt the Lord leading me to some type of Christian service. I had some Godly examples in my teachers who challenged me. Through reading stories of missionaries, I began to have a strong interest in Christian Missions. I also became interested in Aviation and pursued a Missionary Aviation degree at Bob Jones University. While in training at BJU, I took part in summer mission ministries in Northern Canada where we held Bible clubs for children and started a small camp ministry. After graduation from college, I was seeking the Lord's will for my life and a job! A call came from Northern Canada looking for someone to fill a position in an aviation job in the same community where we had ministered on the mission team. I accepted the job, and one month after our wedding, my wife and I moved to Uranium City, Saskatchewan where, for 11 years, we lived, had three children and ministered in a local church and summer-time Bible camp ministry.

My wife, Sarah, was born and reared in Lansdale, PA, and was saved at an early age of 5. She gained assurance of her salvation at the age of 11. Sarah attended Calvary Baptist Christian School in Lansdale, PA and finished grades 11 and 12 at Friendship Baptist School of Raleigh, NC. She graduated from BJU with a major in Missions. Her heart was drawn to Canada after two summers spent there on mission teams. We met in Canada while on their mission teams.

In 2002, my parents had a need that we felt led of God to assist with in Arkansas. As a result of that move, God redirected our vision to the ministry of Wings As Eagles with which we had been intimately acquainted previously. Though much prayer and counsel, we felt God moving us into the ministry with Wings and announced our change in field of ministry in October 2002.

Now we are serving the Lord full-time with Wings As Eagles Mission Air Service, a ministry of our home church, Wyldewood Baptist Church, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The Lord has led us through teachers, professors, pastors, books, desires, circumstances, training and employment. We have sought to be used of the Lord and pray that we will be always sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading. "To God Be The Glory"!
