For many years, Pastor Howard Nelson has had a special burden for the mission field. While he pastored Wyldewood Baptist Church he led the church to support many missionaries and encouraged our members to visit the field. He also led our church to start publishing Bibles in many languages for distribution around the world. In 1988 Pastor Nelson resigned the pastorate and started the ministry called Scandinavians for Christ. His burden is to see the nations of Norway, Sweden, and Finland reached with the gospel of Christ.
Pastor Nelson did not move to the mission field, but he has dedicated his efforts to raising support to publish scripture for each of the Scandinavian countries. He and Diana have made several trips and met various Baptist missionaries that we will work with in this endeavor. His first task was to find an accurate translation in each language so we could feel confident to produce. This has proven to be a monumental task! Only recently has an accurate text of the Norwegian New Testament been published, and our print shop here at Wyldewood began mass production in July of 1997. We plan to continue publishing and distributing as texts become available and money is supplied. |
